Mt. Rainier
One of our first adventures in Washington was, naturally, visiting the infamous volcano, Mt. Rainier. This is one of several waterfalls.
Scott, with his head in a cloud of fog.
The fog gave a mysterious, almost supernatural feel to our hike. The mountains would come and go through the opacity.
Yet more fog, with water trickling down the side of the mountain. This was about the point in our hike when fellow hikers nearby mentioned they had just seen a bear. We waited for a while, but he never showed himself. We were both disappointed and relieved.
Another, rather impressive waterfall.
Tracy, with the waterfall spilling down like a wedding veil (a foreshadow of events yet to come...).
The beginning of the waterfall, flowing over the edge...
...the body...
...and the end, crashing onto the rocks below. We were trying to capture the double rainbow created by the waterfall...can you see them both?
Nature seems to bring out the gymnast in Tracy... Here she does an arabesque on a fallen tree.
Towards the bottom of Mt. Rainer, the water levels out amidst many rocks.
