Blueberry Picking

Out here in the Pacific Northwest, the blueberry season is a reason to celebrate! We invited our Bible study group to go blueberry picking at a patch about a mile from our home, and then make dessert with the harvest. We couldn't have wished for a better day; it was sunny and warm, with just enough breeze to make it comfortable. When we arrived at the blueberry patch, we discovered a dock on a lake. Here are the signs pointing the way.
The children of our small group had a great time picking blueberries. Here are four of them, with each one searching for the biggest, bluest blueberry he can find.
The blueberries were definitely ripe for the picking. Here Tracy and Sharon pick their share.
We had all of the blueberry bushes covered, from the lowest parts to the highest, which made for a great harvest.
Scott is very intent on picking the best blueberries for the blueberry pie we were planning on making.
Sharon and Lisa, both pregnant and near their due dates. As I write this, both women have borne healthy babies, and we give thanks to God for baby Noah and baby Summer!
Katie and Caroline are sisters. Here they're dressed up with matching shirts for the summer occasion.
After the harvest, the kids sat upon this rock to examine their pickings...probably eating quite a few.
When we were all finished picking, we were to weigh our blueberries with the scale provided by the owners, and then put our money in a box--$1.00 per pound! Scott and Tracy had the biggest harvest: 4 lbs. You'd think we would have difficulty eating that many blueberries between the two of us...but after the pie and other blueberry creations, we finished them all.
