Working Girls Road Trip!

In November, Tracy's mom travelled to Washington to visit Tracy on her 27th birthday. They spent a few precious days in Port Angeles on the Olympic Peninsula. It was a "Working Girls Road Trip", complete with one night's stay in a bed & breakfast, dinner at a nice restaurant, wine tasting, and T-shirts. We added on an extra night's stay, a trip to Hurricane Ridge and Marrymere Falls, and even a fun night of bowling!
Tracy and Mom packed and ready for their road trip adventure
Waiting in line for the ferry
Our ferry was named Spokane, also a city in eastern Washington.

Mom looks to the sea. Can you find Mt. Baker in the distance?

It was just a little bit chilly, and windy.
Mom decided this trip would be a new beginning...starting with giving up smoking. By coincidence--or perhaps God's divine providence--we kept running into 'no smoking' signs like this one. We had to take a picture to commemorate the occasion.
We saw an amazingly beautiful sunset on our drive from the ferry to Port Angeles. These pictures don't even come close to the painting God created for us that evening.
We stayed at the quaint Tudor Inn, where we met the owner, Betsy. She treated us kindly, and was a joy to meet. And as it turned out, we were the only two guests in the house for our two-night respite.
First stop--dinner. The food was delicious.
We decided it would be fun to buy pajamas for each other, and exchange them on our trip. Here Tracy shows off her new attire, blending in with the bed cover.
And Tracy had some fun with her purchase for Mom, which included a 'Red Hat Lady' boa!
Betsy served us a scrumptious breakfast in the morning, before heading out for a little outdoor adventure in the Olympic Mountains.
This picture provides proof that Mom actually went hiking in the Olympic Mountains! The fresh air was great for kicking the smoking habit.

Hurricane Ridge...we couldn't have asked for a better day
A lone, little tree sits on the side of the road.
We hiked a little ways on the Hurricane Hill trail, where Mom claims to have seen an elk cross her path, just after Tracy went back to the car to get the camera. Guess that's between Mom, God, and the elk (henceforth referred to as Roosevelt).
Tracy jogs up a side path to look at the view from above,
where she found this intriguing tree stump.
The view was well worth the detour.
Tracy admires God's amazing handiwork. "For the LORD is the great God...In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him." -Psalm 95:3-4.
Mom admires it, too.
After Hurricane Ridge, we went on another hike to see Marrymere Falls. On the drive there, we passed this lake, stopping to take a picture.
On our hike to Marrymere Falls, we crossed this log bridge.
We finally reach Marrymere Falls. It was kind of a small waterfall, though it's probably much fuller in the springtime.
After all our outdoor adventures, it was time to go wine tasting at Olympic Cellars Winery, home to the Working Girl Wines.
Cheers!
Back at the Tudor Inn, we have another glass of wine, before walking to the nearby bowling alley for one last hurrah on our working girl road trip.
We ran into another 'no smoking' sign at the bowling alley. Mom never even picked up a cigarette during her visit, and hasn't smoked since. Praise God, and way to go Mom!
Back in the day, Mom (bowling alias "Glinda") was part of a bowling league. We played two games, and she beat Tracy (bowling alias "Dorothy") in both games.
Is Tracy bowling, or skating?
