Ballard Locks

After Tim and Ann's wedding in Sonoma, Tracy's brother Tyson officially moved to Seattle!! When Mom visited, we all went to see the Ballard Locks in Seattle. We had lunch at the Lockspot Cafe.
There was an old-fashioned telephone booth at the Cafe. Mom uses her cell phone in the booth.
A boat enters the locks from the freshwater side.
It needed to go down to this level, on the saltwater side.
The boat, "New Beginnings," goes out to sea. A fitting name, as Tyson starts his own new beginning in Seattle.

An impressive display of water power
The locks are where you can observe salmon swimming upstream to return to freshwater in order to lay eggs. Tracy observes the life cycle of a fish egg.
Tracy looks for salmon. We didn't see many, as it wasn't prime season. But we saw a few, including this tiny little fish.
On our way out, there were several boats waiting in line at the locks, including this little dinghy.
A self-photo of the three of us...good thing Tyson has such long arms!
Lo and behold, we found another telephone booth!
There is a botanical garden at the locks. We saw a few roses in bloom.
The gardens...can you find Tracy?
