Birch Bay Camping

We took another camping trip this summer with our friends Andrew and Heather, and also Heather's sister Lauren. We went to Birch Bay State Park in northwestern Washington, near the Canadian border.
Heather sets up a tent.

One big, happy family around the campfire
Scott, a regular cowboy
Lauren attempts Greensleeves on the guitar, by firelight and flashlight.
The Cascade Mountains from the campground
Andrew and Lauren skip rocks...there were plenty to go around.
Tracy
Tracy found a little crab...can you see it?
Lauren enjoyed playing with all the little critters.

Scott gets the fire going so we can cook lunch.
Lunchtime!
We made mini pizzas on english muffins.
Andrew and Scott (and Tracy) play Powergrid. It was a very close game, and we ran out of time to finish it. Sad.
But we had to get to our sunset kayak tour!
Kate, our fearless leader. She had just moved from Colorado one month ago, just like Tracy's brother Tyson!
Scott kayaks.

We passed this sailboat on our return trip, as the sun neared the horizon. It was a beautiful night.
