A Leavenworth Retreat
After taking on some challenging responsibilities at our church for several months, we decided to take a weekend retreat to Leavenworth, WA. We stayed at the Mountain Home Lodge.
"I lift my eyes up to the hills--where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." Psalm 121:1-2
The name of our cabin was Ponder Rock.

A view from inside the cabin
We took several pictures of the inside of our cabin...it was nice and cozy.

Tracy gets comfortable in the chair by the fireplace.
Time to unwind with a bottle of wine
Scott checks out the Mountain Home Lodge DVD collection.
Scott works on his writing.
Tracy ponders on the rock in front of the cabin.
This garden gnome ponders the weird people taking its picture.
Mountain Home Lodge has several acres for hiking. We went for a muddy hike after an enormous downpour the night before. It seems the weekend we chose to stay there happened to be the first heavy rain of the season.
Back at the cabin, we broke out a new favorite game, Race for the Galaxy. Tracy has this unsatiable desire to win, so one night we played until the wee hours of the morning.
There was also much reading to be had.
A few self photos....
Trying to get the mountains in the background
One evening we had dinner at the Mountain Home Lodge. It was a delicious, gourmet feast for both the stomach and eyes. We had the proprietor take our picture with the butternut squash soup.
An elk visited us all at dinner.
Tracy wanted to check out a fruit barn, to get some fresh picked apples during the apple season.
We also spent some time walking around downtown Leavenworth, a Bavarian village in the heart of the Cascades.
Some shops
Tracy poses with the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory bear. If you go all the way back to our road trip pictures, you'll find a similar picture!
We went to Leavenworth the first weekend in October, which so happened to be Oktoberfest! Here some vendors showcase their talent.
Some of it was quite amazing talent.
A horse and buggy await the next person willing to pay for a ride.
We made a visit to this bookstore.
Before heading back home, we had pretzels for lunch. Here is the outside of the pretzel store.
